In seed time learn, in harvest teach, in winter enjoy.

Hi…and thank you!

I know this is the ABOUT ME part, but I do have to begin by thanking you for visiting my site. It truly means a lot to me and I’m so very thankful for the wonderful community of gardeners and nature lovers that I’ve met throughout the years. Because of you all, I have folks to chat all things gardening, nature and food with. Frankly, my family’s eyes have been glossing over for sometime around these topics, so they too, appreciate you being here.

I probably should do a proper introduction now. Hi, I’m Allison Vallin Kostovick. I’ve been an organic gardener for the past 25 years. I live in the gorgeous state of Maine with my husband, our two boys, our dog, two cats and around two dozen chickens. By day I’m an art director, and every other second outside of that, I’m out in the garden, or thinking about the garden, or here, writing about the garden.

While my garden journey has always been one of connecting with Nature and finding peace through gardening, given what the world has been through pandemic-wise over these past two years, I’ve wanted to be more open in regard to the healing powers of the garden, and of Nature and the incredible solace it has provided me…in hopes that it could bring the same peace, calm and nourishment to you. For one of the greatest things we can grow as gardeners, is our soul, and this year, now more than ever, let’s focus on nourishing ourselves as much as we nourish that prize-winning tomato.

In short, my garden philosophy is one of partnership with and in reverence of Nature and because of that, it has allowed me to spend the majority of my stolen moments in the garden enjoying it, soaking it in, relishing each bit of it; rather than weeding, working and toiling away, because a balance has been created by practicing permaculture planting.

So join me here as I’ll share not only tips on how to grow the best veggies, herbs and flowers possible, but also how to celebrate each step along the way. And how to carry on that garden spirit all year long, even through the gloomiest days of winter, you can be dreaming green. Happy growing!
