calendula-infused oil

Looking for something to do with your hoards of Calendula! Why not make a soothing salve? Calendula is a miracle worker for your skin. It’s powerful herbal juju promotes both the growth and healing of the tissue.

Herb-infused oils are a treasure for your skin and so easy to make. Feel free to swap the Calendula for another herb of your choice, or mix and match herbs for a lovely blend.

Ingredients:

  • carrier oil (I love using olive oil for winter months and a lighter apricot oil come summertime)

  • dried Calendula flowers/petals (enough to fill your jar 2/3rds)

Fill a clean mason jar 2/3rds up with dried Calendula flowers.

Pour olive oil (or your oil of choice) all the way to an inch of the top of the jar.

Using a wooden spoon, slowly and gently muddle the herbs in the oil.

Use a clean bamboo skewer to skim along the inside edge of the jar to make sure all air pockets are popped.

Seal with cap and keep in a cool, dark cabinet.

Give the jar a gentle shake every other day or so.

In six weeks, your infused oil will be ready to be strained and jarred-up for using.
